The right to cancel allows the consumer to cancel a purchase or service contract made outside of a commercial establishment, without the need for justification. It is valid for a period of 7 days, also known as the cooling-off period.

The legal basis for the right to cancel a purchase in Brazil is found in Article 49 of the Consumer Protection Code (CDC). The text clearly states that the consumer may cancel a contract signed outside a commercial establishment within 7 days of signing or receiving the product or service.

Exceptions

There are some situations in which the right of withdrawal does not apply, such as in-person purchases, personalized products, services already provided in full , perishable or sealed products, and specific financial contracts.
